History at Buena
2000 Mr. McCausland wrote a Technology Grant entitled Access, Collaboration, and Equity (ACE). This $200,000.00 award funded additional computers for computer lab, workshops, additional library hours, computer construction classes and added the power screen, window treatments, web servers, laptops, cameras and printers that are still in service today.
2001 Mr. McCausland set up the Virtual Practice Room, a password protected on-line resource for all music students to practice the music that they work on daily in class. This has served thousands of music students in the last 10 years.
2002 Mr. McCausland helped Mr. Dandrea and Mr. Kearney with the Auditorium renovation that included the new lighting system in service today.
2005 Mr. McCausland established the annual variety show to help fund the annual musical production. This was the first year of the DVD scrapbook that is utilized to fund Drama Club Scholarships. All materials and time donated by Mr. McCausland.
2007 Mr. McCausland was named Teacher of the Year in a year where he experienced 2 hospital admissions and still kept up with all of his scheduled activities.
2008 Mr. McCausland proposed Performing Arts Technology Class for the purpose of supporting all school activities utilizing the new auditorium technologies.
2009. Mr. McCausland produces the first of many annual choir holiday cds to be used as a fund-raiser for the choir. This is the same year of the addition of the Virtual Concert Hall for the use of presenting student work in both video and audio formats in a safe, password protected environment.
2010. Mr. McCausland joined the District Professional Development Team. He also worked with the architects for the auditorium renovation.
2011. Mr. McCausland composed and produced a video for the Glee Give a Note competition and received an award for the district of $10,000.00.
Fun Facts about Mr. McCausland
Before Buena, Mr. McCausland was the director of the Educational Technology Training Center in Salem County.
Mr. McCausland has written over a quarter million dollars in grants prior to arriving at Buena.
Mr. McCausland would rather burn calories than fossil fuels. Starting in 2007, after his knee surgery, Mr. McCausland began biking; mostly from home to school. To date he has racked up over 11,000 miles.
Mr. McCauslands home is entirely powered by Green Energy.
Once a month, Mr. McCausland goes into the City of Camden to feed the homeless.
Mr. McCauslands first musical was Youre a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and the person who played Charlie Brown manages a Tesla Dealership in Santa Monica, CA.
In September, Mr. McCausland participated as an extra in the filming of an episode of the new TV Series, Do No Harm. The show was cancelled 6 days before his episode was to air.
